Cavan County Board GAA offers deepest sympathies to Seán, Declan and the Feeney family and extended families on Andy’s passing. Andy is remembered as a very competent and able administrator in Cavan GAA circles. He served as secretary and County Board delegate of his club Killeshandra during the 1970s and at the Cavan County Convention of 1980 he was elected assistant secretary of Cavan County Board. After two years in that position he was elected to the demanding role of county secretary, a post he filled for the next six years. He was secretary of the Board during the Centenary celebrations of 1984 which put a huge responsibility on voluntary officials but the programme of events organised by the Board was very praiseworthy and among the best in the country. Andy was noted for his efficiency and attention to detail in dealing with all GAA matters whether trivial or important. He is remembered for his courtesy to club delegates and officials and his readiness to help them with their queries. He did it all with good humour and usually with a quick sense of wit. After his retirement Andy continued to be a great supporter both of Killeshandra Leaguers and Cavan GAA. He made many friends throughout the GAA and he enjoyed nothing more than a discussion on the fortunes of his club and the Cavan county teams.
