Ladies are Junior B Champions
Congratulations to our ladies Junior team who won the Junior B Championship last Sunday when they beat hot favourites Shannon Gaels in the final. They beat Cavan Gaels in the semi-final earlier in the week to qualify for the final. Gemma Cullen was the captain of a very young side blended with some seasoned players and the experience at this level should be invaluable to them and the club as they mature into the adult ranks.
Under 12 Boys are County Champions
Massive congratulations to our U12 Boys who are county champions after beating Castletara in the final last week – match report will be in next issue.
Community Games
Well done to all our boys and girls who played with St. Patricks and represented Cavan in the national Community Games finals at the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown last week. The U10 Boys played on Saturday – the team includes Killygarry, Cavan Gaels and Butlersbridge. Our players involved are Killian Reilly, Paddy Brides, Jamie Lovett, Thomas Gilsenan, Darragh Gilsenan and Charlie Fallon. They did great along with coaches John T., Phillip and Packie. They won their semi-final and were very unlucky to lose to an injury time penalty in the final.
The U12 Girls played on Sunday. Our girls on the team were Orla McCabe, Leah Lynch, Kayla Reilly, Kate McManus, Ella Noonan, Aoife McGovern, Ailbhe Kennedy and Lauren Morrisson. They lost their semi-final in the morning and lost the 3rd/4th play-off by just two points in the afternoon. All the boys and girls did their clubs, county and province proud.
All-Ireland Ticket Draw
It’s that time of year again with the usual rat-race for All-Ireland tickets. The Club is holding its usual annual draw for two All-Ireland Football Cusack Stand tickets and €500 spending money. Tickets are €5 each or 3 for €10 and can be purchased from any committee member. Please support. You can also buy tickets online using the following link – https://www.klubfunder.com/Clubs/Killygarry_GAA/Events/
Senior Men
In the Championship, wins over Gowna and Cuchulainns were followed by an unlucky defeat to Lacken. But the team bounced back in style last weekend with a convincing win over Kingscourt in Bailieboro to qualify comfortably for the quarter-finals. Our opponents won’t be confirmed until a number of play-offs take place.
Senior Reserve Men
The Reserves face Cootehill in the Reserve Championship final which hasn’t been fixed yet. Best of luck lads.
Under 16 Boys
The U16s are in Division 2 for the championship with Blackwater Gaels, Ballyhaise and Cuchulainns. There were home and away fixtures with the top two qualifying for the final. They won their first game against Cuchulainns but lost both games to Ballyhaise. They bounced back by taking all four points from Blackwater Gaels. They beat Cuchulainns in their last game last week in Mullagh to qualify for the final where they will meet Ballyhaise again on 07/09. Best of luck lads.
U14 Boys
Our U14 Boys are in Division 2 (Group 1) for this year’s Championship. Other teams in our group are Cavan Gaels, Cootehill and Crosserlough. The first game is against Crosserlough at home next Saturday. We also have a team in Division 5 along with Ballinagh, Kildallon, Crosserlough, Castletara St Patrick’s, Shercock and Cuchulainns. They won their first game against Castletara last week and are away to Kildallan next Sunday.
U12 Boys
Well done to our U12 Red team who qualified for the Summer League final after beating Laragh last week in the semi-final. They went on to beat Castletara last Wed in the final in Breffni. Hard luck to our U12 Black team who also qualified for a semi-final but lost to Mullahoran last week.
